The Construction Process on State Road 38 has begun.
Here’s the info you need to know to make your arrival at Catalyst a smooth one.

  1. If you’re coming from Pendleton Pike (SR 67) North or Southbound, the easiest way to get to Catalyst Sunday will be to take Angle Road (beside south side of the High School) and follow the signs into the back entrance of PHMS.
  2. If you’re coming from SR 38 through downtown Pendleton (I-69 exit 219) you’re going to want to turn right onto SR67 to Angle Road and follow the signs into the back entrance of PHMS.
  3. If you’re coming from SR 36 you cannot detour via Woodrow Drive.  You can however detour via 250 W and turning right.  The barricades on SR 38 close the road beyond our normal entrance to the Middle School.  There are signs saying that the road is closed earlier, but it is not until well past the entrance.
  4. Give yourself about 3-5 extra minutes this weekend to find your way into Catalyst, and don’t miss the first 5 minutes this weekend…it’s going to be pretty funny and you don’t want to miss the laughs!

All of us know other families that we might describe this way, but for us…no way.  But even if that dysfunctional sticker doesn’t really fit us, wouldn’t all of us agree that sometimes the relationships that try to coexist in our homes can sometimes hit a bit of a funk?  They’re not completely falling apart, but something just feels a bit…well, off?

This fall at catalyst, we’ll be hitting some practical topics that will help us break out of the funks we ‘sometimes find ourselves in.  We’ll also be throwing in some old school fun funk music and a retro feel to lighten the mood and engage the senses!

So if you’re looking for a safe place to break the family funk and have a little fun too, don’t miss any of the next few weekends at Catalyst. We’re not gonna tell you we have this family thing all figured out…but with Gods help we’re going to try to get more “functional” at home together!

We may have heard that it’s a time when we’re supposed to give something up, but perhaps no one has ever connected the dots for you about this deeply sacred but really mysterious time on the calendar each year. You may have heard it’s 40 days, may have heard it requires giving up alcohol or sex or chocolate or Facebook, but to be honest, no one’s ever really explained why. This weekend, we hope to demystify some of the process of Lent, and at the same time, ratchet up our honor of the practice of creating space for God to speak in new ways in our lives over these weeks leading up to Easter Sunday.

The last weekend of each year we celebrate a day of rest at Catalyst, an opportunity to pause and reflect on all the great things God has done in our church over the past year, and a weekend to honor all the volunteers who make it happen every weekend to make Catalyst Weekend Gatherings the great experiences they are for everyone.

So this weekend we encourage you to enjoy extra time with family and friends, get some extra rest, worship with someone close to you and take in all that God has done in 2012 and anticipate all the even greater things He has ahead for Catalyst in 2013.

Despite the fact that we get time off from work, we often get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. And what often happens is that barriers that we can typically overcome for the sake of our connection with God are magnified by stress and an unsustainable pace. Well, we’re addressing them head on this coming Sunday.

As the holiday season gets into full-swing, we’re spending the day talking about the lingering barriers that hang-over our heads and keep us from experiencing breakthroughs in our relationship with God. Because we believe that no matter the time of year or what your schedule looks like, God has more in store for you than you realize.

What’s chipping away at your soul? What’s getting in the way of you becoming the person God created you to be?

We know something doesn’t quite feel right, that we’re not growing closer to God and following Jesus the way we would like, but we can’t put our finger on it. Even though we believe in God and want to please Him, we find it hard to serve Him passionately and consistently. We want to move forward spiritually but feel like we’re running against the wind. We want more-we know there’s more- but we just can’t seem to find it. Why do so many well meaning Christians take one spiritual step forward, and the slide back two?

Most of us really do have the best of intentions when it comes to protecting and stretching our soul. Unfortunately, lots of us also are very unaware of the forces stunting our spiritual growth. In this series, we’re pulling back the curtain on the toxins attacking our spirit and stunting our first steps and next steps with God. We’re no longer living like what we don’t know won’t hurt us!

We get started at 10:00 AM and our weekend gatherings last about an hour.

If you’re coming from the south on I-69: Take Exit 19, heading east (turn right) on State Road 38. Continue through the intersection of State Road 38 and State Road 67. The school will be on the south (right) side of the road. Proceed to the second entrance (where you’ll see a sign) and follow that drive back to the parking lot directly ahead of the entrance.

If you’re coming from north of Pendleton on I-69: Take Exit 19 heading (left) east on State Road 38. Continue through the intersection of State Road and State Road 67. The school will be on the south (right) side of the road. Proceed to the second entrance (where you’ll see a sign). Follow that drive back to the parking lot directly ahead of the entrance.

We launched Catalyst Church on February 7th, 2010 with one purpose in mind…that everyone who walks through a door to a worship experience, a Catalyst Kidz environment, a Life Together Group, or a community/connection event would find a safe place to explore your faith questions as we pursue the first steps and next steps in our journey with God. We know that all of us come from different backgrounds and faith traditions, and that we bring lots of different perspectives and life experiences. That’s great, no two people are meant to have the same story. We are looking to understand the way of Jesus clearly and seeking to figure out what it means to be a follower of Jesus today.

Whatever your thoughts are about church, whatever your beliefs about God, we want you to know you are welcome here. We hope you enjoy yourself and find yourself excited about seeking God a little more than before you came. Be open. You may be surprised by how God desires to connect with you on a profound and personal level.
